About

Ligação Judaica por Portugal is a nonprofit association dedicated to preserving, researching and sharing Portuguese-Jewish heritage in the broad context of the Iberian Jewish experience and the Sephardic diaspora. We work through education and culture: lectures, heritage visits, publications and community programmes grounded in historical accuracy and respect for Jewish tradition.

Our approach combines personal connection to family stories with scholarship on migration, naming patterns, communal life in Iberia and beyond, and how memory works across generations.

We believe heritage can be discussed with precision and empathy—including painful chapters of expulsion, secrecy and forced assimilation—without reducing complex histories to slogans.
